Research Interests
Broadly, I am interested in how social identity, norms, and cognition interact. I have a few lines of research in this area. In one, I examine intersectional gender norm enforcement on a spectrum from benevolent enforcement to violent enforcement.
In another line of research, I examine sexism encountered on social media platforms. As part of that area, I developed an open-access database of social media stimulus including sexist and neutral stimuli. Access to this database can be accessed by scrolling to the bottom of this page. My team also adapted existing code to launch a mock social media platform we are using to examine the impact of sexism encountered on social media platforms in terms of stress and wellbeing. In the latest study in this are, I am developing a behavioral predictor that will allow us to examine women's experience on social media platforms beyond mere exposure to actually examine the influence of algorithms in social interactions on social media platforms.
